Dear Dr. Dave and Dr. Dee, Blue, my girlfriend's cat, is dying of cancer. My girlfriend is extremely attached to Blue and is terribly upset. Would it be appropriate to get her another cat right after Blue dies? If so, would you suggest the same breed or a totally different one? In that light, it would not be a good idea to get another pet too soon after the death of Blue. Give your girlfriend some time to grieve. Then, offer to buy her a new pet, and let her choose. |
