Wine Glass Held by Stem

Please be so kind and advise how one should drink from a long stem glass, by the stem, the head, or either?

Generally, the most appropriate way to hold a wine glass is by the stem. Two basic reasons are to keep the glass bowl clean of fingerprints and maintain the proper temperature of the wine (important for chilled wines, such as white or champagne).
