Dear Dr. Dave and Dr. Dee,

I am attending a polo match and have a ticket for the catered tent that stated proper afternoon attire was expected. I am not sure what this means. Is a coat expected for men?

Polo spectators can be seen in just about anything from shorts to suits.

However, since you will be in a catered tent, then it would be appropriate to wear a sport coat, but a tie is not necessary. A nice collared shirt or polo shirt underneath the jacket would look nice. Leave the top button unbuttoned. Wear nice slacks or khakis.
