Dear Dr. Dave and Dr. Dee,

I've read you suggestions about what to bring the host, but what if the host is a diabetic? Do you have any other suggestions besides wine and chocolate?

Giving wine or chocolate would be fine. According to the American Diabetes Association (www.diabetes.org), diabetics do not have to avoid alcohol and sweets. A diabetic can have an occasional sweet or drink and it should not cause problems as long as their diet is generally a healthy one.

Also, there are sugar-free chocolates, candies and cookies. For any host, a nice bottle of herb vinegar, herb oils, or herbal teas also make a nice gift.
