Cell Phones Popular With Teenagers

Dear Dr. Dave and Dr. Dee,

My daughter's cell phone is only two years old, but she has hinted that she wants a new cell phone for her high school graduation present. There are so many choices that I am stumped at what to get. I wanted this to be a surprise, but should I ask her?

Signed,

Confused

Dear Confused,

If you want to surprise your daughter, but do not know what cell phone she would like, then ask one of her close friends. Many teenagers have a particular cell phone in mind, and friends usually know what they like.

If it turns out that she really does not have any particular phone in mind, then look at cell phone reviews and prices from websites such as CNET (www.cnet.com), PC Magazine (www.pcmag.com) or PC World (www.pcworld.com).

Although your daughter may not have a specific cell phone that she wants, she might like her cell to have certain features such as touch screen, QWERTY keyboard, camera, MP3, video, GPS, Wi-Fi, or Bluetooth.

For example, some high rated or popular cell phones are iphone, Blackberry, HTC, Samsung, Motorola, or T-Mobile. But, there are constant improvements in technology and new phones on the market, so check their websites for updates.

New cell phones can be quite expensive, but depending on your cell phone service, extending her contract or starting a new service plan can bring down the price considerably.
