Eyeliner Tips

Dear Dr. Dave & Dr. Dee,

I just started wearing glasses and feel my eyes need make-up to stand out. Do you recommend any particular type of eyeliner and any tips to make the liner line more natural looking? I haven't used eyeliner since my teen years, and back then, I used a liquid liner that looked obvious.

Signed,

Need Advice

Dear Need Advice,

The easiest eyeliners to use are either eyeliner pencils or an eyeliner powder. Kohl eyeliner pencils are popular because they are smooth and rich in color. When drawing a line, use short strokes instead of trying to draw one long line. To make your eyes appear wider apart, emphasize the outer portion of the lid, and avoid lining close to the inner corner of the eye. Then smudge gently with your fingertip, cotton swab, or bit of tissue.

Look for eyeliners that glide on smoothly, have high pigment, easy to blend, smudge proof, and long wearing. To see a list of some top rated eyeliners that also have anti-aging ingredients, see the letter, "Anti-Aging Eyeliners May Diminish Fine Wrinkles" below.
