Home Decorating - Window Coverings

Dear Dr. Dave and Dr. Dee,

We're moving into a new home that the previous owners newly painted, so we're fine with that. However, we need new drapes for the windows as the ones there are very shabby and an odd color for our furniture. We hope to buy new furniture and carpeting for the living room, but don't have enough money, yet. We also don't know what color the new stuff will be. In the meantime, what color drapes do you think we should get right now - ones that match our old rug or our old furniture?

If you don't know what color carpeting or furniture you'll be getting, then the safest match would be with the wall color since it sounds like you're happy with the color that was newly painted.
