We have recessed lights in our living room that are directly overhead of the couch and armchairs. Is it necessary to have table lamps in the room?

Even though you have plenty of ceiling light in the room, adding lamps would be both decorative and functional. If you want to create ambience and add elegance to a room, table lamps would be necessary. Nice table lamps add color and style to a room, making it more intimate and inviting.
