Dear Dr. Dave and Dr. Dee,

I have a formal long white skirt with a black velvet top. I took a poll at the office, and half say I should wear black shoes; the other half says white! I thought black shoes would give a nice contrast. Is it okay to wear black shoes with a long white skirt?

You can wear either black or white shoes with the black/white outfit. One way to decide is, if you are tall, contrasting black shoes would look fine. If you are petite, white shoes with the long white skirt are best to lengthen the look.

If the skirt was short, then to elongate the legs, taupe, beige, or shoes the color of your skin are best.
