Eyebrow Plucked Perfect

Dear Dr. Dave and Dr. Dee,

I need to pluck my thick eyebrows, but I'm not sure how much to pluck. Where should the eyebrow start and end and where is the arch exactly?

Signed,

Perplexed

Dear Perplexed,

Over plucking is a common mistake made when trying to thin out eyebrows. Another error is to over-arch the brow. Eyebrows only have slight arch.

Your local department store or drugstore should have eyebrow stencils that provide a guide for tweezing. In addition, always use a good pair of tweezers with a slanted edge.

Here are brow shaping tips according to eyebrow expert, Anastasia (www.anastasia.net) as presented on Oprah Winfrey's show (www.oprah.com).

Eyebrow shaping:

1. Brow Begins: Eyebrow begins above the middle of the nostril. By positioning an eyebrow pencil straight up from the middle of your nostril to your eyebrows, you can see the point where the brow should begin.

2. Brow Ends: find the point outside the nostril edge going through outside the eye. By tilting the pencil on the outside corner of your nose, aligned with the outside corner of your eye, you can find the ending point.

3. The Arch: Take a pencil and line it up with the tip of the nose and middle of the eye's iris. The point where it hits the eyebrow is the perfect place for an arch.
