Black Top with White Pants

Dear Dr. Dave and Dr. Dee,

Is it okay to wear dark tops with light pants? For example, I like to wear black tops with my beige pants or white jeans. Or is that too much of a contrast?

Dear Black on top,

Black tops can be worn with just about any color pants, and contrasting with white pants or skirts looks fine. The only reason to stay away from light colored pants is if you need to de-emphasize a bottom heavy figure. Black on top works especially well with white or beige pants to de-emphasize a top heavy figure.
